Former India captain Virat Kohli is currently in Australia along with the team practising for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which is scheduled to start from November 22. Rohit Sharma less Team India are currently sweating out in Perth at WACA stadium to get familiar with Australian conditions before the five-Test match series.
Kohli who recently failed to perform in his last Test outing against New Zealand, refused to leave the net, even as India's first practice session at the Optus Stadium in Perth was halted due to rain.
India has been training at the historic WACA in Perth since last Wednesday, preparing for the upcoming Test series. During their practice sessions, which included a three-day intra-squad match against India A, two key batters, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, sustained injuries.
While Gill’s injury has ruled him out of the first Test in Perth, adding to India’s woes with captain Rohit Sharma also unavailable, Rahul returned to the nets just two days later. On Tuesday, at the Optus Stadium, he had an extended batting session and appeared to be in good form.
Virat Kohli has also been actively participating in training, determined to make a statement after a challenging run with the bat. The 36-year-old has shown glimpses of his class both in the nets and during the intra-squad match, eager to silence doubts about his future in the format.
On Tuesday, Kohli's commitment stood out as he continued to bat even when a sudden downpour disrupted India’s training session. While most players left the ground, Kohli kept practicing until the rain intensified and forced him to stop.
