Following Pahalgam terror attack, India head coach Gautam Gambhir receives death threat from 'ISIS Kashmir'

The terrorist attack happened on April 22 when at least 26 tourists were killed after gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Baisaran in Jammu and Kashmir.

Former India cricketer and current head coach Gautam Gambhir has reportedly received a death threat from 'ISIS Kashmir' after the Pahalgam terror attack. The terrorist attack happened on April 22 when at least 26 tourists were killed after gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Baisaran in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per news agency ANI, the threat prompted Gambhir to approach the Delhi Police on Wednesday, seeking immediate action. In response to the alarming situation, Gambhir formally submitted a request for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR), according to the SHO of Rajinder Nagar Police Station and the DCP of Central Delhi.


India's World Cup-winning star also urged the law enforcement authorities to take necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of his family.

On April 22 Gambhir reportedly received two threatening emails--one in the afternoon and another in the evening--both containing the message "IKillU."

This isn't the first time Gambhir has faced such threats; back in November 2021, during his tenure as a sitting Member of Parliament, he had also received a similar email.

Earlier, Gambhir on on Tuesday had Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Gambhir condemnned the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The brutal attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday left 26 civilians dead after terrorists opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran meadow, making it one of the most horrific incidents since the 2019 Pulwama terror strike.

"Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike," Gambhir wrote on his X platform

Gambhir was with team India during their last outing in the Champions Trophy 2025, where the  Men in Blue played all their matches in Dubai. After India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph, Gambhir travelled to France for holidays with his family. The former India opener will now be seen travelling to England for his next assignment for the upcoming five Test match series scheduled to start from June 20.
