Babar Azam faced a lot of criticism after Pakistan failed to perform in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan will now face Bangladesh for the Test series.

Pakistan World Cup winner Mushtaq Ahmed lavished praise on Pakistan captain Babar Azam after the team failed to perform in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. He stated that the skipper requires contributions from the rest of the players. Babar Azam-led side were heavily criticised for their poor show in the marquee event hosted by USA and West Indies.

Mushtaq also said that other players from the Pakistan cricket team also have to score runs, they also have a role to play for the team.

"Babar's intent has definitely changed in the past year. He has shown aggression in his batting. If a person can improve so much, I think that's enough," Mushtaq said to Cricket Pakistan.

"Other players also have a duty to score runs; they have a role to play too. If one person gives you a score, but the rest of our players don't go on to score in the remaining 7-8 overs, then there's a problem," he added.

"This has been happening for 3-4 years. They (other players except Babar) only score when it doesn't make a significant impact," stated Mushtaq.

Babar was the highest run-getter for Men in Green in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. He scored 122 runs in four matches with a strike rate of 101.66.
