Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary alleged that MS Dhoni, Duncan Fletcher and the selectors for not give him an opportunity despite scoring a century. Tiwary played an unbeaten 104-run knock against the West Indies. He was awarded Player of the Match after India's 34-run win against the Windies.
Tiwary, who announced his retirement on August 8, 2023, believes that he did not receive sufficient backing from the team management, which ultimately cut short his stint in internationals.

"I'm not the one who will be able to answer this question. I think MS Dhoni, Duncan Fletcher, and the selectors will be the ones who will be able to answer that because till now, I haven't got any answer. Furthermore, I'm not someone who will call up the coach or the selectors or the captain at that time to answer me this. But I've earlier said that whenever I come across to MS Dhoni, definitely I'll ask him what are the main reasons why I was not given the opportunity after scoring 100. So till now, I have no clue what went wrong, what were their thought process at that point of time. It is a question which needs to be asked to the ones who have made that decision and who were there at that time were taking the calls" Manoj Tiwary told Crictracker.
Manoj represented four IPL franchises, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rising Pune Supergiant, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. His last IPL outing came in 2018. He played 98 IPL matches and scored 1695 runs with a highest score of 75*, including seven half-centuries. Tiwary's last international outing came in 2015 against Zimbabwe in a T20I clash.
On the other hand, MS Dhoni has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. He recently featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 where the wicketkeeper batter reapointed as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain after regular skipper ruled out of the tournament due to an elbow injury.
