Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has urged Pakistani fans to be patient with Aamer Jamal, emphasising that the emerging all-rounder is not yet at the level of Hardik Pandya or Ben Stokes.

Despite Jamal's notable achievements, such as his impressive 82-run innings in Sydney and becoming the leading wicket-taker in his debut Test series against Australia, Butt advices against making premature comparisons with well-established stars like Pandya and Stokes.

"Please let him play a few more matches. He has not become Hardik Pandya or Ben Stokes. If a player does something good, we all expect him to do everything, and then when he fails, we say he should be removed. He played a good knock and has the talent, but it takes more than talent to be consistent. Let him perform for at least a year," Butt said while speaking in his latest YouTube video.

Butt stressed the importance of consistency before setting high expectations for Jamal. He highlighted that although the Pakistani all-rounder has displayed talent and potential, it's crucial to give him time to develop and prove himself through more matches.

For the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand, Pakistan have announced a 16-player squad. Mohammad Hafeez, the team's director, suggested the possibility of resting star batter Babar Azam for a few games to manage his workload. Butt used India as an example, stating that Pakistan should reconsider the players they plan to rest.

"In some cases, India don't even pick the players in the squad with whom they want to rest. They make their squad accordingly and don't call the big players if they aren't going to play. Pakistan, on the other hand, don't have that clarity. We want to make everyone happy. Pakistan have sent so many guys that if someone contests an election, he will win just by their votes," Butt added.
