USA fast bowler Ali Khan has been handed a two-match ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for Level 1 breach of their Code of Conduct. Khan committed the offence during USA's World Cup Qualifier Play-off clash against Jersey on April 4. The offence added to the demerit points he incurred during the 24-month period and led to the ban. He will not play USA's next two international matches (T20Is or ODIs whichever comes first).

The article 2.5 which Khan breached is for players "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match."

He was fined 15 per cent of his match fee as well. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowler's last two offenses were in 2021. He breached the ICC Code of conduct in a T20I match against Bermuda in ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier Americas Final in Antigua.

In addition, Jasdeep Singh was fined 30 per cent of his match fee and handed two demerit points. On the other hand, Jesey cricketer Elliot Miles has been fined 15 per cent of his match fees and handed one demerit point.

Singh was fined for breaching Article 2.12 of the code. The offense relates to "inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match."

Miles was used for using foul language as the Article 2.3 of the code relates to "use of an audible obscenity during an International Match."

The incident happened in the same game where Khan created a record for an associate nation player. Defending 232, he took seven wickets for just 32 runs from 9.4 overs. He helped his side win the match by 25 runs. In the crunch game there were several confrontations between the players of both teams.

"All three players admitted their offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Owen Chirombe of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for formal hearings," the ICC said in a media release. “On-field umpires Andrew Louw and Claus Schumacher, and third umpire David Odhiambo levelled the charges.”
