India's young speedster Akash Deep who missed the fifth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 citing back issues revealed that everything is fine with him and he will start training again after two weeks. Akash Deep who made in Test debut against England has played seven Test matches where he picked up 15 wickets. He played two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 picking five wickets against Australia.
In the Gabba Test, he picked three wickets across two innings and claimed just two scalps in the Melbourne Test. Akash missed the final Test against Australia as head Gautam Gambhir said he was struggling with back issues.
"I'm resting right now, there's no injury. I've been playing Test cricket for a long time, so my body needs rest, and rest is all good. I've got two weeks of rest, and then I'll start my training," Akash Deep told IANS.
India captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir are facing a lot of criticism as Australia defeated India 3-1 in the five-Test match series. However, young Akash Deep lauds the India captain and coach duo for motivating the team.

"I feel very lucky that I got the opportunity to start under Rohit (Sharma). The way he leads and keeps things simple, I haven't seen a captain like him so far. Gambhir sir, the way he motivates and gives freedom - those things really help players mentally."
After losing 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Team India are out of the World Test Championship (WTC) final which will take place in England later this year.
Team India are currently preparing for the white ball series against England and after that Rohit Sharma-led side will travel to Dubai for the Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled to start from February 19. Team India will play their opener clash against Bangladesh on February 20.
