India went on to post their highest List A score at home

India A posted their highest List A total at home thanks to brilliant centuries from Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer in the first ODI against Australia A. After being invited to bat first at the Green Park stadium in Kanpur, the opening duo of Priyansh and Prabhsimran Singh provided the hosts with a fantastic start. The two batters opened the innings for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) during IPL 2025 and formed massive stands throughout the tournament. They continued that form against Australia as well and smacked the opposing bowlers all around the park.

Both the batters would soon reach their half-centuries before Prabhsimran would lose his wicket for 56 in the 21st over to Tom Straker. However, this didn't stop Priyansh from scoring runs at a brilliant pace and he was joined by Shreyas Iyer on the crease, who also went on to punish the Australian bowling attack.

Priyansh delivered with 82-ball ton

Priyansh would soon go on to reach his century, hitting 11 boundaries and five maximums. However, he wasn't able to go on for much longer and was dismissed by Tanveer Sangha in the 26th over for 101 runs. Despite getting the massive wicket, Australia just weren't able to stop the run-flow as Shreyas and Riyan Parag also went on to form a big partnership.

Both the batters hit several boundaries and reached their fifties in no time, taking India's total over the 300-run mark before the 40th over. Though he was looking set to bring up his hundred, Parag got dismissed for 67 in the 41st over by spinner Todd Murphy. He hit five fours and sixes each and helped the hosts in getting to a formidable total.

However, Australia's misery didn't stop even when the wicket fell as Iyer kept on smacking the bowlers for fun and eventually brought up his century in just 75 deliveries. He formed a valiant 73-run stand with Ayush Badoni, who also played an important knock and got the side to their highest List A total on home soil.

Badoni got India over the 400-run mark

Shreyas would be dismissed by Liam Scott for 110 runs in the 47th over, but Badoni's 25-ball half-century was enough to get India over the 400-run mark. He would lose his wicket in the final over to skipper Will Sutherland, however the damage was already done and the hosts finished their innings of 413/6. It will definitely be nothing short of a mountain task for Australia to chase down the mammoth target.
