India's tour of Zimbabwe 2024 has been confirmed.

India will play a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe after T20 World Cup 2024.

India's tour of Zimbabwe 2024 has finally been announced which is scheduled to start from July 6 following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024. All the matches will be held at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, with the final match of the series scheduled for July 14. Zimbabwe Cricket has officially announced this development through a press release and has also released the complete schedule for the series.

This upcoming tour is important because it marks the return of India to Zimbabwe for a T20I series after a good gap. The last time India visited Zimbabwe was in 2022 when they played a three-match ODI series and managed to secure a 3-0 whitewash against the home team. Therefore, the T20I series is expected to generate substantial interest, as it presents a fresh opportunity for the Men in Blue to compete in Zimbabwe after many years.

"The confirmation of the tour came after productive discussions between the Zimbabwe cricket board and the BCCI, Zimbabwe said in a statement.

BCCI committed to help Zimbabwe cricket

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that India's cricket board is committed to supporting Zimbabwe Cricket in their aspirations for progress and prosperity.

“The BCCI has always played a pioneering role in contributing to the global cricketing community," Jay Shah said.

"We understand that it is a period of rebuilding for Zimbabwe, and Zimbabwe Cricket needs our support at this juncture. Our steadfast commitment to touring and supporting fellow member boards aligns with our principle of bringing about a positive transformation within the cricketing landscape. The BCCI will do its best to make bilateral cricket stronger and commercially more viable. Our pledge to support Zimbabwe Cricket reflects a shared vision for the growth and prosperity of cricket on the international stage,” Shah added.

No bilateral T20I series for India before World Cup

Team India engaged in a T20I series against Australia and three against South Africa in November-December of the previous year. India also hosted Afghanistan for a three-match T20 series last month. However, despite being the top-ranked T20I team globally, India does not have any bilateral T20I series scheduled until the commencement of the T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to kick off on June 1.
