India's 15-member squad for Women's Asia Cup 2026 announced, Prema Rawat included

India women's squad for the Asia Cup 2026 has been revealed with Harmanpreet Kaur taking the charge of 15-member side. Going by the Cricinfo report, the Indian selectors have opted for consistency, announcing an Asia Cup 2026 squad that closely mirrors the contingent picked for upcoming edition of Asian Games. Most notably, Lord’s Test centurion Yastika Bhatia continues to miss out, with the selection committee backing 18-year-old G Kamalini instead.

The lone modification in the Asia Cup lineup is the exclusion of Shreyanka Patil, who remains sidelined as she continues her rehabilitation from the ankle ligament injury that cut short her T20 World Cup campaign. Legspinning all-rounder Prema Rawat, who stepped in for Patil during the World Cup, retains her place in the squad for the upcoming tournament.

Interestingly, Patil was included in the Asian Games roster when it was released on June 30, though her participation in that event remains conditional on passing a final fitness test.

During her brief World Cup appearance against South Africa in Manchester, the 24-year-old Rawat posted an unbeaten 3 off 2 balls and gave away 21 runs across two wicketless overs. India’s campaign ultimately ended in disappointment following a crucial final group-stage defeat to Australia.

Although the official schedule remains unconfirmed, the Asia Cup is slated for a late August to mid-September window, serving as a prelude to the Asian Games in Japan, which will take place from September 17 to 22. BCCI is yet to make the squad official.

In the meantime, four key Indian stars—vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh—are active in the UK featuring in The Hundred.
