BCCI have announced India U-19's squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa that will commence from January 3. This assignment will be a big test for both teams as they prepare for the U-19 World Cup that will begin from January 15.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been named the team's captain and will be leading them for the first time in his career. Regular captain Ayush Mhatre will not be participating in the series as he has sustained a wrist injury. Alongside him, vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra has also been ruled out of the assignment due to the same injury. Both of them will be reporting to BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in order to recover from their injuries.
Suryavanshi continues to rise
It must be a huge honour for Suryavanshi to captain the India U-19 team at the age of just 14. His rapid rise led to him becoming Bihar's vice-captain in the Ranji Trophy earlier and now he has been handed leadership duties at the international circuit as well. It remains to be seen as to how he performs both with the bat and as the skipper
