Miller treated the CPL 2024 eliminator as quarterfinal.

Proteas batter David Miller went berserk in Guyana guiding Barbados Royals to Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 Qualifier 2. Miller whacked five sixes in his unbeaten 50 off just 17 balls as Royals chased down the revised target of 60 in 4.2 overs at Providence Stadium. The explosive left-handed batter was asked whether he got flashes of the T20 World Cup 2024 final during run chase. Miller responded by saying that this was different situation altogether.

“It's a quarter-final, it didn't add up to the World Cup final, it was a situation where we thought we weren't going to play and were happy to end the match on a winning note,” Miller told the broadcaster in the post-match presentation.

Miller is happy with how he has turned up for Royals in the ongoing CPL 2024 season.

“We now move to the semis, we've played well at times and played badly as well, but we'll hope to take the momentum into the semis game. I wasn't well, but thankfully it's over now and we'll look forward to the next match,” the southpaw added.

The 35-year-old walked out to bat in the first over of the run chase as his countryman Quinton de Kock got knocked over by Sunil Narine. Miller nullified the Narine threat and dominated Chris Jordan before smashing two sixes off Terrance Hinds to finish the run chase.

Royals skipper Rovman Powell for Miller's scintillating knock as well. On the other hand, Knight Riders captain Pollard gave credit to Miller for taking the game away from them in the five-over run chase.

Miller on T20 World Cup 2024 final defeat

Earlier, Miller had opened up on getting out to Hardik Pandya in the last over of T20 World Cup 2024 final.

“I watch a lot of different sport and I always talk about ’the moment’. There are always moments to win the game and I suppose that was the moment to win the game. And it wasn’t to be for me,” Miller told ESPNCricinfo.

“I felt like I let the country down, I’ve myself down, I’ve let my teammates down. So it’s quite a difficult moment to unwrap. It was a very hollow feeling, I almost just didn’t want to walk off the field, wanted to have another go. So it’s a bit cruel, but such is life. Like I said, there’s many other people, sportsmen that have had really tough moments to try and get over, and I’m not the only person it has happened to,” he added.
