J&K captain Paras Dogra’s apology rejected as he loses cool to headbutt Karnataka player during Ranji Trophy Final
Dogra was captured headbutting substitute fielder KV Aneesh during a heated on-field exchange at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground. The incident occurred in the 101st over of J&K's innings after Dogra edged a delivery from Prasidh Krishna for a streaky boundary.
It sparked a verbal spat believed to have been triggered by persistent sledging from the close-in fielder. He was captured in a heated conversation with Karnataka's Aneesh before he went on to headbutt him. Dogra’s headbutt while in a helmet prompted immediate intervention by umpires, as well as senior Karnataka players, including Mayank Agarwal, who stepped in to separate the two and confronted the J&K skipper verbally.
Additionally, Karnataka skipper Devdutt Padikkal was also seen in discussion with the on-field umpires Rohan Pandit and Ulhas Gandhe following the incident.
Meanwhile, Dogra later reportedly offered an apology, which Aneesh did not accept, while the altercation overshadowed J&K's strong batting performance, reaching 527/6 at stumps. The sensational J&K player is leading his side with a strong performance by powering them for the first time in Ranji Trophy history. However, it was overshadowed by the ugly fight and controversy.
