Out-of-favour Indian opener Mayank Agarwal registered his personal best Yo-Yo test score at National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru on March 14. Agarwal posted a video his test where he scored 20.1.

Previously, the minimum score set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is 17 which was increased from 16.1. The new parameters are still unclear but Agarwal was well ahead of it with his personal best.

The 32-year-old has been out of the Indian side for a year now. His last Test appearance was against Sri Lanka at his homeground where he registered scores of 4 and 22 in first and second innings respectively.

The Karnataka skipper Agarwal finished Ranji Trophy 2022-23 as the highest scorer. He scored 990 runs from 13 innings at an average of 82.50 including three centuries and six half-centuries. Agarwal led Karnataka into the semi-final but his 249-run knock in the first innings went in vain as Jaydev Unadkat-led Saurashtra progressed to the final and won the title.

Many backed Agarwal to make a comeback into the Test side after a string of low scores from KL Rahul who was eventually replace by Shubman Gill in the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

Agarwal also got a chance to lead Rest of India against Madhya Pradesh in Irani Cup. Rest of India won the Irani Cup by 238 runs but Agarwal was unimpressive with the bat registering scores of 2 and 0.

Agarwal will be seen in action soon in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). After getting released from Punjab Kings' squad, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) roped in his services for Rs 8.25 crore after a bidding war with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The 32-year-old will be seen in SRH colours for the first time when the Aiden Markram-led side takes on Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals. He had a poor season as PBKS captain scoring 196 runs from 13 innings at an average of 16.33 including just one half-century.
