Michael Vaughan's son runs riot in One-Day cup, hits 52 and bags three wickets

Archie Vaughan dropped a great performance with both bat and ball while playing for Somerset in the game against Surrey in the ongoing One-Day Cup. The son of former England skipper Michael Vaughan scored a quickfire 52 off 36 balls before coming back to trouble Surrey with his spin bowling, clinching three wickets during their failed chase of 369. Somerset eventually wrapped up a huge 188-run win.

Somerset's batting department put on a strong show against Surrey at Taunton, piling up a huge 368 for nine from their 50 overs. Tom Lammonby led the charge at the top with a great century, smashing 114 off 96 balls with 13 fours and two sixes. Captain Lewis Goldsworthy recorded strong support with a 83-run knock from 86 balls to keep Somerset in control.

In the late stages of the game, Archie Vaughan provided the much needed acceleration from the No.6 position. The son of former England captain Michael Vaughan took the attack to Surry, hitting three fours and three  sixes during a quickfire 52 off only 36 deliveries. His aggressive cameo helped Somerset finish with an imposing total and leave Surrey facing a daunting chase.

Surrey never looked in control while chasing a the massive 369-run target as Someset's spin bowling attack stamped their authority with dominant performance. Twenty-year-old Archie Vaughan followed up his half-century with an amazing spell, finishing the game with the figures of 3/41 from nine overs, including maiden. Veteran spinner Jack leach was equally effective, picking up three wickets while conceding just 29 runs in 8.2 overs. With the help of a strong bowling performance, Surrey's batting lineup were bowled out for only 180, handing Somerset a strong 188-run win.
