Story Highlights:

Mohammed Siraj will not travel to UK for T20I series.

Siraj has been withdrawn from the T20I squads as part of workload management.

India's senior pacer Mohammed Siraj has been rested for the T20I series against Ireland and England to manage his workload. On June 9, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced that the decision to rest Siraj was taken in an attempt to manage his workload after discussions between the BCCI medical team and the team management.

“Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season,” the BCCI said in a statement.

Siraj vs Krishna workload compared

Siraj had bowled a total of 13 overs in the one-off Afghanistan Test whereas Krishna bowled 14. Siraj had played the entire season for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Krishna wasn't a regular in GT lineup. He played 12 games out of 17.

Siraj seems to have been rested keeping in mind that India need him for the Test series in Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Krishna returns after Maxwell nightmare

30-year-old Krishna hasn't played a T20I since November 2023. The last time he played a T20I, Glenn Maxwell hit him for a six off the last ball of the innings to help his side win by five wickets.

In IPL 2025, he took 25 wickets but didn't get a chance in the T20I side. In the recently-concluded season, he leaked runs at 10.43 runs per over which became a concern. From 12 games, he bagged 16 wickets at an average of 25.43.
