Pakistan-born USA pacer's visa for India rejected ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

USA's Pakistan-born pacer Ali Khan, who was part of KKR's squad for IPL 2020, revealed that his India visa has been denied.

Pakistan-born USA bowler Ali Khan took to social media on January 13 to reveal that he has been denied India visa for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. Reportedly, Shayan Jahangir, Ehsan Adil and Mohammad Mohsin's visa has been denied as well.

"India visa denied but KFC for the win," wrote Ali, who was born in Attock City of Pakistan's Punjab, in his Instagram story.

 

 

USA have been placed in Group A alongside hosts India, Pakistan, Netherlands and Namibia.

Ali moved to Ohio, USA as an 18-year-old. He made his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) debut and created a buzz by dismissing Kumar Sangakkara on his first delivery for Guyana Amazon Warriors.

In 2019, he made his ODI debut. Two years later, he made his T20I debut as well. So far, he has 33 wickets from 15 ODIs at an average of 16.42, featuring a seven-fer. In T20Is, he has 16 wickets from 18 games at an average of 33.87. His economy rate is 8.44 runs per over.

Ali Khan, a familiar face in T20 franchise cricket

Ali has played in Afghanistan Premier League (APL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), ILT20, Major League Cricket (MLC) as well. For a brief period he was part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as well but did not get to make his debut.

He played a crucial role in restricting Pakistan to 159/7 in their T20 World Cup 2025 clash at Dallas' Grand Prairie Stadium. He claimed the wicket of Fakhar Zaman and conceded 30 runs from his quota of four overs. USA beat Pakistan in super over scripting history.

USA’s T20 World Cup 2026 schedule

USA will go up against India in the T20 World Cup 2026 opener at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on February 7. They will face Pakistan in their second match in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Then, they will head to Chennai to go up against Netherlands at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Their last group stage clash is at the same venue against Namibia.
