Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan had a straightforward response when asked about his inability to communicate well in english language. Rizwan is often on the receiving end of trolling on social media for his pre-match, post-match comments. Ahead of Multan Sultans' Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 opener, Rizwan asked about whether the social media trolls take a toll on him. The wicketkeeper-batter said he is not ashamed that he does not know how to speak in the language properly.
“I don’t care [about social media trolling]. I am proud of one thing and that is whatever I say, I say from my heart. I don’t know English.
“The only regret is that I did not get enough education but I am not even one per cent ashamed that I can’t speak English despite being the captain of the Pakistan cricket team,” Rizwan said in a press conference.
However, the 32-year-old regrets that he did not complete his education. He pointed out that his current priority is to play for Pakistan, not become a prefessor in English.
“The demand from me is cricket, not English. There is a regret that I did not complete my education, which is why I struggle in speaking English.
“Pakistan is not demanding English from me if that is the case, I will leave cricket to become a professor but I do not have that much time,” he added.
Rizwan's struggle with bat and as captain
Rizwan has not been in the best of forms with the bat. After the unbeaten 122-run knock against South Africa in tri-nation series, he could not convert starts into big scores. Under his leadership, Pakistan had an early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Then, Pakistan suffered a series whitewash on England soil. In the ODI series, he scored 72 runs from three innings.
Rizwan to face Warner's Kings
Rizwan-led Multan Sultans will go up against David Warner's Karachi Kings in their tournament opener on April 12. He will have a point to prove after getting dropped from Pakistan's T20I squad alongside Babar Azam.
