PCB punishes its players after T20 Asia Cup 2025 final defeat, suspends NOCs for all overseas T20 leagues outside Pakistan: Report

Pakistan Cricket Board seem to have made another erratic decision after their team's defeat to India in T20 Asia Cup 2025 final, suspending NOCs to participate in overseas T20 leagues.

Less than 48 hours after the defeat to India in T20 Asia Cup 2025 final, Pakistan players are already facing consequences. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended all no-objection certificates (NOCs) for players who are set to play in T20 leagues outside Pakistan in the coming months.

As per a report by ESPNcricinfo, PCB CEO, Sumari Ahmad Syed sent a notice to players and their agents on September 29, informing them about the suspension of NOCs.

"With the approval of Chairman PCB, all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players with respect to participation in leagues and other out of country tournaments are hereby put on hold until further orders," the notice read.

Later this year, Pakistan's star players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan and others were set to play in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26. Also, as many as 18 Pakistan players have been are on the shortlist for the IPLT20 Auction which will be held on October 1 in the UAE. The list of players for ILT20 2025-26 include the likes Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub and Naseem Shah.

For now, there is no further information regarding whether a few players are exempted from the suspension of these NOCs. 

Pakistan’s international schedule for remainder of 2025

This year, Pakistan are set to play two Tests, three T20Is and three ODIs against South Africa at home. In November, they will host Sri Lanka for a three-ODI series which will be followed by a T20I tri-series including Afghanistan.
