India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson gets felicitated by Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor after his maiden T20I century in the third T20 against Bangladesh at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Samson just took 40 balls to cross the 100-run mark. He smashed the second-fastest hundred for the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game.

Tharoor who is an avid cricket fan took his 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) to share the photos of felicitating Samson for his century.

"Delighted to give a hero’s welcome to “ton-up Sanju” as @IamSanjuSamson returned to Thiruvananthapuram after his stunning century versus Bangladesh. Found a “ponnada” in the appropriate Indian colours to honour him with!," tweeted Tharoor.

However, Tharoor has not watched the third T20I where India scored 297 runs against Bangladesh. He took his social media to express his disappointment over failing to watch Samson's Century Knock live as he was busy with some official work.

"My great misfortune that I was running around the constituency in a series of engagements while @IamSanjuSamson was hitting his spectacular century in the ongoing T20i vs Bangladesh. Wish I could have seen it live! I always knew he could do it, and I am bursting with pride at his amazing performance – the second fastest T20i century by an Indian and one of the most dominant ever played in an India shirt. Keep going, Sanju!," Tweeted Tharoor.

Sanju Samson was part of India's T20 World Cup winning team but the wicketkeeper batter failed to feature because of Rishabh Pant. In the recently concluded series against Bangladesh where Pant was rested because of upcoming Tests, Samson amassed 150 runs in three games, averaging 50.
