Prabhsimran responds to T20I snub with 47-ball 125 as Warriors chase down 265 in just 16.5 overs vs Abhishek's Soormas

Hours after Prabhsimran Singh was dropped from the T20I squad for Afghanistan series without making his debut on Zimbabwe tour, the wicketkeeper-batter smashed an unbeaten 47-ball 125 in successful run chase of 265 for Jalandhar Warriors against Abhishek Sharma-led Amritsar Soormas on September 1 in Sher-E-Punjab T20 clash. Prabhsimran's unbeaten 125 overshadowed Soormas top-order batter Naman Dhir's 117-run knock. Warriors chased down 265 with eight wickets in hand and 19 balls to spare, registering their first win of the tournament.

Prabhsimran makes run chase of 265 look easy

Prabhsimran unleashed carnage in the third over of the run chase, hitting Akash Pandey for four fours and a six. In the next over, Vishwanath Singh hit Jaipartap Singh Johal for a four and three consecutive sixes before losing his wicket for a 12-ball 31. Then Harjas Singh Tandon finished the over with a six. Abhishek wasn't spared either as Prabhsimran smashed him for a couple of sixes. He reached his half-century from just 16 balls. Warriors were 103/1 after powerplay overs. Tandon supported Prabhsimran from the other end, finding boundaries with ease. At the halfway stage, Warriors were 162/1, needing 103 runs in the remaining 10 overs.

The second-wicket partnership was broken by Shubham Rana in the 11th over. Tandon departed for a 21-ball 42 in the 109-run partnership. Anmol Malhotra went on a six-hitting spree as well. In the 14th over, Prabhsimran hit Abhishek for a six and a four to reach his century from 41 balls. Then, Malhotra went berserk, reaching his fifty from just 19 deliveries in the 16th over. In the next over, Prabhsimran smashed Naman Dhir for a six and two fours to finish the run chase with 19 balls to spare.

The skipper's knock of 125 from 47 balls featured 14 fours and eight sixes. On the other end, Malhotra scored 53 runs from 23 balls, including three fours and five sixes. They shared an unbeaten 92-run partnership for the third wicket from just 35 balls.

Abhishek, Dhir's rampage

Earlier, Prabhsimran won the toss and opted to bowl first. Gurvinder Singh Bullar struck early, dismissing Sahaj Dhawan with his first ball. Dhir and Abhishek dealt in fours and sixes, using the powerplay overs. Abhishek smashed Bhullar for three consecutive sixes and a four in the sixth over. The Amritsar Soormas skipper reached his fifty from just 20 balls, hitting Randeep Singh for consecutive sixes in the seventh over. In the ninth over, Dhir completed his fifty from 24 balls. At the halfway stage, Soormas were 125/1.

The bowlers' nightmare continued. But, Emanjot Singh Chahal gave them a moment of joy with Abhishek's wicket. The opener hit five fours and seven sixes in his 36-ball 82. In the 16th over, Rahul Kumar departed for a 10-ball 13. In the 18th over, Dhir hit Abhinav Sharma for four sixes. He reached his ton from 53 balls. Sharma ended up conceding a six off Jashanpreet Singh's bat making it five in an over. In the penultimate over, Dhir lost his wicket to Sukhdeep Bajwa. He smashed 10 sixes and seven fours in his 56-ball 117. Jashanpreet contributed with a 12-ball 33 to help Soormas post 264/5 on the board.
