India's star batter Prithvi Shaw has reportedly apologised following an ugly spat with Musheer Khan during their Ranji Trophy warm-up game.
Prithvi Shaw apologises to Musheer Khan
The 25-year-old recently found himself in the news for events both inside and outside the boundary line. While he proved his might by smashing a brilliant 181 against his former domestic team Mumbai in a warm-up match before the Ranji season, it was an ensuing controversy that truly captured attention. The right-handed batter was involved in a heated altercation with several Mumbai players shortly after his dismissal at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
The incident began when young spinner Musheer Khan dismissed Shaw for 181 and gave him an emphatic send-off, which clearly angered the senior batsman. Shaw immediately charged towards Musheer, leading to a tense confrontation. As things grew increasingly heated between Shaw and the Mumbai team, the umpires were forced to step in to calm the situation. Even as Shaw began his walk back to the pavilion, Mumbai player Siddhesh Lad continued to follow him.
I am like an elder brother to you: Prithvi Shaw to Musheer Khan
Despite the fiery on-field exchange, reports suggest the matter has been resolved. According to a Times of India report, Prithvi has issued an apology to Musheer for his aggressive behavior, reportedly telling the young player, "I am like an elder brother to you."
The friction between Prithvi and Musheer seemed to dissipate on Day 3 of the warm-up match when Shaw took the step to make amends. After Shaw dismissed batter Arshin Kulkarni, the former Indian opener approached Musheer, put an arm around his shoulder, and engaged him in a friendly discussion. Musheer reciprocated warmly, placing his hand on Prithvi’s waist. This light-hearted exchange signaled that the rift between the two players had been successfully resolved.
In the wake of the initial heated altercation, the Mumbai and Maharashtra Cricket Associations had launched an investigation into the incident. To lead the inquiry, they appointed former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar.

Talking about Prithvi's performance, he dazzled with the bat, belting a brilliant 181 off 220 which was studded with 21 boundaries and three sixes.
A former fixture for the Mumbai side, with whom he made his First-Class debut in 2016–17 and his Test debut for India at just 18 in 2018–19, Prithvi parted ways with his home team after the previous season. He has since joined the Maharashtra team, alongside veteran all-rounder Jalaj Saxena, who previously played for Madhya Pradesh and Kerala.
