Prithvi Shaw scored a brilliant century against Mumbai in warm-up match

Shaw has been in fine form for Maharashtra

Prithvi Shaw came back to haunt his former domestic side Mumbai in their warm-up match against Maharashtra. With the Ranji Trophy 2025/26 season right around the corner, Shaw played a fine knock for Maharashtra, smacking the opposing bowlers all around the park. The 25-year-old eventually went on to reach triple figures after facing a total of 140 deliveries.

Shaw and Kulkarni formed a huge opening stand

Shaw opened the innings for Maharashtra alongside Arshin Kulkarni and they went on to form a mammoth partnership of 305 runs for the first wicket. It was nothing short of a terrific batting display from both the players and it saw their side reach a big total on the first day of the match itself.

Kulkarni was the aggressor among the two as he went on to take his score past the 150-run mark. He eventually was  dismissed in the 50th over by Shams Mulani after playing an incredible knock of 186 runs from only 140 deliveries. By the time of his dismissal, Shaw was batting on 116 runs from 159 deliveries.

Meanwhile, this century saw Shaw continue his sensational form for Maharashtra. Notably, the batter had played a fantastic knock on his debut for Maharashtra that came during the Buch Babu tournament in August. He then went on to score a robusty half-century in Maharashtra's second match of the competition. He has now followed those knocks up by scoring a century in the  warm-up match against Mumbai.

With Shaw still not anywhere close to being considered for India's squad in any format, the upcoming domestic season will be highly important for the him as he continues batting like this in the upcoming matches, then the selectors might just show faith in him once again and try him out in a format. The 25-year-old is likely to be in action in Mahrashtra's Ranji Trophy opener that will be against Kerala and will commence from October 15.
