India's star Rinku Singh has got engaged to Samajwadi Party's Member of Parliament Priya Saroj in an intimate ceremony which took place at the at The Centrum Hotel in Lucknow on June 8. This private affair was attended by their closest family members, friends, and a select group of distinguished guests from both the political and cricketing spheres.

Prior to the engagement ceremony, Rinku Singh sought blessings at the revered Chaudhera Wali Vichitra Devi Temple, located in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The couple made a grand entrance at the venue together, both looking resplendent in perfectly coordinated white and pink attire. The engagement ceremony itself was held in the elegantly decorated Fulcurn Hall. This spacious hall, capable of accommodating over 300 guests, played host to an elite gathering that included prominent figures from the worlds of cricket and politics. A tender moment from the event was captured in a video that has since surfaced, showing the newly engaged couple holding hands.
The engagement was honoured by the presence of several notable personalities. From the cricketing fraternity, former cricketers Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla graced the occasion, along with Aryan Juyal, the captain of the Uttar Pradesh Ranji team. The political landscape was well-represented by Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, and Members of Parliament Jaya Bachchan, Dimple Yadav, and Iqra Hasan, who is also a close friend of Priya Saroj. Senior Samajwadi Party leader Professor Ram Gopal Yadav and Congress leader Rajeev Shukla also attended the joyous event.
The focal point of the venue was a magnificent 12x16-foot stage. The culinary experience for the guests was meticulously planned by the couple, drawing inspiration from the rich traditions of Lucknowi cuisine. An exclusively vegetarian menu was curated, seamlessly blending regional and international flavours. Guests were treated to the exquisite tastes of Awadhi delicacies, perfectly complemented by the sweetness of Bengali favourites such as rasgulla and kaju-paneer rolls. A diverse array of international starters, spanning European and Asian cuisines, was also on offer. A unique welcome drink named 'kuhara', a special coconut-based concoction, was served at live counters. Rinku Singh's personal culinary preferences were also thoughtfully included in the menu, with paneer tikka and matar malai taking pride of place, alongside other delectable dishes like malai kofta, kadai paneer, veg manchurian, and spring rolls.
To ensure the comfort and convenience of their guests, the couple had booked 15 rooms at The Centrum Hotel, with five of these specifically reserved for Rinku's closest friends. Security arrangements for the event were stringent, with access granted only to those in possession of barcoded passes. A dedicated team of private security personnel, working in close coordination with the local police force, maintained a state of high alert throughout the event, guaranteeing the safety and well-being of all the VIP attendees.
Reflecting on his professional cricket career, Rinku Singh experienced a relatively quiet IPL 2025 season while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He managed to score 206 runs with an average of 29.42 and a strike rate of 153.73. The Kolkata Knight Riders concluded the season in the eighth position on the points table, accumulating 12 points with a net run rate of -0.305, having won only five out of their fourteen matches. Despite this subdued IPL performance, Rinku Singh continues to be an integral part of India's T20I squad. In his 30 T20 International appearances, he has scored a total of 507 runs across 22 innings, maintaining an impressive average of 46.09 and a striking strike rate of 165.14, including three half-centuries. The 27-year-old cricketer made his debut in this format against Ireland in 2023 and is still in pursuit of his maiden international century. Rinku Singh has also represented India in two One-Day International matches and boasts a commendable domestic cricket record. In his 52 List A innings, he has amassed 1,899 runs, achieving an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 94.8.
