India batter Rinku Singh will be getting engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj on Sunday, June 8 in Lucknow. The ring ceremony is set to take place in a hotel in the city. This comes after Priya's father Tufani Saroj, who is a SP MLA from Kerakat, had stated back in January that his family had had 'meaningful' discussions with Rinku's father in Aligarh about the potential marriage of their children.
He had also said that both Rinku and Priya have expressed the desire to marry each other, however he had also confirmed that the engagement hadn't taken place at that time.
"Both the children have expressed their desire to get married and have sought our permission for the same. The engagement has not taken place yet. Initial talks have taken place in this regard," Tufani had told ANI.
Rinku Singh had a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign with KKR
Rinku was recently seen featuring for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2025. However, after winning the title in the previous season, the side failed to make it to the playoffs in their next campaign and finished eighth on the points table. The Kolkata-based franchise managed to win just five matches throughout the season.
Rinku also had a disappointing campaign individually in IPL 2025, managing to score just 206 runs in 13 matches. The left-hand batter didn't even manage to score a half-century throughout the tournament and was among the biggest underperformers in the side.
Despite this, Rinku is an important member of India's T20I set-up and has so far played for the national side on 33 occasions in the shortest format. The left-hand batter has a decent record for the Men in Blue in T20Is, scoring 546 runs and maintaining a brilliant strike-rate 161.06.
The 27-year-old has also featured for India in one-day cricket, but has only played in two matches so far. The Indian team was up against South Africa in both of those matches that took place in 2023. Rinku did play a decent cameo of 38 runs from 27 deliveries in the second game.
