'Ruk jana nahi': Sreesanth shares small clip of him singing after IPL Auction 2022 snub

S Sreesanth might have failed to lure bidders in the IPL mega auction 2022 but he is surely not bogged down by that since he gear up for mission Ranji Trophy. After going unsold in the auction, Sreesanth posted a short clip of him singing a popular Bollywood song, Ruk Jana Nahi to kabhi haar ke that roughly translates to never give up.

“Always grateful and always looking forward…lots of love and respect to each and everyone of u.: “om Nama Shivaya" the 39-year-old wrote alongside the video.


Sreesanth, who had a base price of Rs.50 lakh in the IPL auction, also took to Twitter to thank his fans and assure them that he was looking forward to his return to Ranji Trophy.

 

"Gods grace and lots of hard work and perseverance..really grateful to each and everyone of u for keeping faith in my ability..I will keep giving my very best ..it’s just the beginning". Sreesanth tweeted on his return to the premier domestic competition after a gap of nine years.

 

Sreesanth has played 44 IPL games for Kings XI Punjab, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Rajasthan Royals from 2008 to 2013. He was included in the Kerala squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy last week.

 

Sreesanth, who was handed a seven-year suspension by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for his alleged involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scam, made his return to the domestic circuit last season. He was part of the Kerala squads in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 championship and the Vijay Hazare Trophy One-Day competition last season. Later he opted out of both the events.

 

Kerala, are placed in the Elite-A division, open their Ranji campaign against Meghalaya at Rajkot on Thursday (February 17). Other teams in the group are Meghalaya, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

 

Meanwhile, the experienced duo of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane will also feature in the ongoing Ranji Trophy after being under the scanner in Test cricket for the last couple of years. Pujara was named in Saurashtra's squad, to be led by Jaydev Unadkat, and Rahane in Mumbai's squad to be led by Prithvi Shaw.

 

Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that the marquee domestic cricket competition will be held in two phases. The first phase of the tournament, which will consist of league stage matches, is all set to begin from February 10 to March 15 across various venues in the country. Meanwhile, the second phase, which consists of knockout games, will begin after a break from May 30 to June 26.
