In a series of interesting events, it has been reported that star India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has not been dropped from the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, as he has been given rest to make sure that Prabhsimran Singh, who performed brilliantly for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2026 gets an opportunity to play for India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe, which will be held in later this month. Notably, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star batter was not included in the squad despite playing a big role in India's 2026 T20 World Cup triumph.
Is Sanju dropped from the Indian team?
However, the latest report by the Indian Express claims that the senior selection committee has not moved on from the star wicketkeeper-batter, as he will travel with the Indian team for the Asian Games in September.

The report claims that the selection committee led by former India cricketer Ajit Agarkar has banked on a tour like this to try out some new faces. Interestingly, the previous tour to Zimbabwe have gives many star players to make their maiden international appearance.
The selectors did not drop Shreyas Iyer, as he just took over the leadership role of the T20I side, while Tilak Varma is also expected to receive a longer run in the side.
