Despite the controversy surrounding the video, Shakib achieved significant success in his political venture. On Sunday, January 7, he secured a Parliament seat, representing the Awami League from the Magura-1 constituency. He won the election by an overwhelming margin of over 150,000 votes. Abu Naser Beg, the district's chief administrator, described Shakib's win as a 'landslide victory.'

Shakib's recent cricketing endeavors include participating in the World Cup, where he played his last international game for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka. During the tournament, his form was not at its peak, and under his captaincy, Bangladesh secured only two wins, finishing eighth in the standings. Throughout the tournament, Shakib scored a total of 186 runs across seven innings and claimed seven wickets. However, he had to return home ahead of Bangladesh’s final game due to an injury.

As Shakib transitions from the cricket field to a political role, his journey continues to attract attention, reflecting both his on-field prowess and his off-field endeavors. His move into politics marks a significant new chapter in his already illustrious career, blending sportsmanship with public service.
