Story Highlights:

Smriti Mandhana helped Manchester Super Giants win by 4 wickets.

Mandhana remained unbeaten for 88 in the run chase of 143 vs Sunrisers Leeds.

India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana single-handedly pulled off the run chase of 143 for Manchester Super Giants against Sunrisers Leeds in the Women's The Hundred 2026 competition. At Headingley, Leeds, Mandhana scored an unbeaten 88 off 50 balls against the Danielle Gibson-led side, the highest score in the ongoing edition of the tournament. As the opener hit two consecutive sixes, Super Giants won by four wickets with four balls to spare. Only one other batter in Super Giants’ lineup scored in double digits as Mandhana dominated the proceedings.

Earlier, cameos from Bryony Smith (22-ball 26), Phoebe Litchfield (26-ball 31), Annabel Sutherland (24-ball 35), Lauren Winfield-Hill (13-ball 17) and skipper Gibson (6-ball 18) helped Sunrisers Leeds post 142/4.

Super Giants face collapse

In the run chase, Mandhana did not get off to a flying start. The opening partnership was broken by Cassidy McCarthy with the wicket of skipper Meg Lanning who scored 24 runs from 18 balls. Mandhana took charge of the run chase but wickets kept falling at the other end. Paige Scholfield, Richa Ghosh, Mady Villiers departed cheaply as Super Giants were 71/5 from 54 balls.

Mandhana’s lone effort takes Super Giants to victory

Mandhana reached her fifty from 33 balls. A few balls later, Grave Scrivens was run out for nine runs from 11 balls. When she departed, Super Giants needed 44 off 25 balls. Mandhana took the aerial route against her Indian teammate Deepti Sharma, hitting her for a massive six. On the 91st delivery, Mandhana's catch was dropped off Jess Jonassen's bowling. She made it count by hitting two consecutive sixes to finish the run chase. She remained unbeaten on 88 off 50 deliveries, featuring seven fours and four sixes.

Mandhana delivers the best

Mandhana registered the highest score in the ongoing season by far. Three batters - MI London's Dani Wyatt-Hodge, Welsh Fire's Georgia Voll and Sophie Devine -- have scored 52 each. The Indian opener is the fourth to score a half-century in the season.

Also, it is Mandhana's highest score of her The Hundred career. In 2021, she had scored 78 runs for Southern Brave against Welsh Fire. Mandhana's unbeaten 88 is also the second-highest score by an India batter at the Women's The Hundred. The record belongs to Jemimah Rodrigues who scored an unbeaten 92 for Northern Superchargers (now Sunrisers Leeds) against Welsh Fire in 2021.
