Fans who were eager to see Sourav Ganguly as the captain will be disappointed to hear that Sourav Ganguly will not be a part of the Legends League for now.

The BCCI President was scheduled to play a match at the Eden Gardens on the occasion of Azadi Ki Amrit Maha Utsav. He was to be a part of an exhibition match before the main competition kicked off, and Ganguly was expected to lead the India Maharajas on the pitch against a World XI at the Eden Gardens on September 16.

The team would have seen some of India's biggest legends on the pitch reuniting one more time to face some of the best international legends in a one-off game. And while the tournament and the match will go ahead as planned, Ganguly is surely to skip the event.

"Yes I am not playing because of lack of time... I was playing 1 game only Charity," the former skipper told India today network when he was contacted for clarification.

People, including Sourav himself, were excited at the prospect of the World Giants match because at one time Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh played under Sourav's leadership.

Ganguly has withdrawn from the game citing personal reasons. The project sees his childhood friend Sanjay Das in a major role. When asked, he did not want to comment much about this matter. However, it remains to be seen whether Sourav will still take part to do the same. The BCCI president is most likely not going to play in this league.
