Sree Charani breaks Australia pacer Megan Schutt's all-time T20I rankings record, achieves highest-ever rating

India’s left-arm spinner Sree Charani achieved her career-best rating points, the highest in the history of ICC T20I rankings for bowlers. Sree had taken eight wickets from three games in the recently concluded Asian Games 2026 women's cricket competition which led to her gaining 18 more rating points.

The previous record was held by Australian pacer Megan Schutt with 806 points. Now, the new record in possession of Sree stands at 817 rating points.

Sree played a huge role in India's gold medal win at the Asian Games 2026. It was also Indian contingent's first gold at the games.

Sree’s stellar form in 2026

Earlier this year, Sree was the standout player in ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 despite India failing to make it to the semifinal. From five T20Is, she claimed 14 wickets, breaking the Indian record held by Poonam Yadav. As India were knocked out early, she did not have the change to break New Zealand's Amelia Kerr's record for 15 wickets in a T20 World Cup edition.

Sree also ended up with 12 wickets from five games in India's T20 Asia Cup 2026 triumph. She shared the second spot with Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu. Her teammate Deepti Sharma held the top spot with 14 wickets.

In the year 2026, she is the leading wicket-taker in T20Is. From 23 T20Is, she has 47 wickets at an average of 10.42 including three four-wicket hauls.

Deepti rises too

Deepti has seen a 25 rating points rise after taking seven wickets in Asian Games, including a three-fer each in the semifinal and the final. She holds the second spot with 754 rating points, 21 more than third-placed England spinner Sophie Ecclestone.

Deepti has been in impressive form with the ball this year as well. She has 37 wickets from 24 T20Is at an average of 14.78 including two fifers.

Sandhu in top 10

The only change in top 10 is Pakistan's Nashra Sandhu moving up three places to take the eighth spot. Nashra had taken three wickets in the Asian Games where Pakistan bagged a bronze medal with a win over Bangladesh. Earlier this month, she had taken a record-breaking six-wicket haul against Hong Kong, China.
