The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the United States and West Indies. The tournament opener will be played between the USA and Canada.
The teams are divided into four groups –
Group A - India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and USA.
Group B - England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman.
Group C - New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea.
Group D - South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal.
India will begin their campaign in New York against Ireland on June 5. The highly anticipated India versus Pakistan clash will take place at the same venue on June 9. On June 12, India will take on co-hosts USA. India's first match in Florida will be against Canada on June 15.
The group stage matches will be played from June 1 to 18. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 8 stage. It will be followed by Super 8 clashes which are scheduled to be held between June 19 and 24.
The semi-finals will be played on June 26 and 27 in Guyana and Trinidad respectively. The final of the T20 World Cup will be played in Barbados on June 29.

India have not been able to win a T20 World Cup since the inaugural edition when they beat arch-rivals Pakistan. In the previous edition, India reached the semi-final stage against England. The Jos Buttler-led side beat India by 10 wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
