Sydney Sixers skipper Moises Henriques has revealed that Babar Azam took a couple of difference to move on from Steve Smith denying him a single off the last ball of the over in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 clash against Sydney Thunder. Henriques feels that it is a difference in culture of cricket played in two countries. He confirmed that the two openers have made up with each other after the situation was explained to the Pakistan batter.
"It took a couple of days for that to settle down," Henriques told Fox Cricket during the BBL qualifier against Perth Scorchers on January 20. "To be honest, think it's just a bit of a misunderstanding of culture of each other.
"It's a pretty common thing in our culture, and maybe for him (Babar) he wasn't used to it and didn't quite understand. Once it was explained to him he was absolutely fine. They've kissed and made up and it's two of the greats back friendly again," said the all-rounder jokingly.

Henriques also revealed that he and Sixers coach Greg Shipperd took the initiative to talk to the Pakistan opener who was visibly upset.
"[We are] always trying to understand… we could visibly see he was quite upset with what happened on the field, so we needed to try and understand why he felt that way. Once we got to the bottom of it, it was okay," Henriques said.
What Smith had said about denied single
Earlier, Smith had said he had a conversation with Babar as well and the two are on good terms with each other.
"He's good, we chatted before. I thought he batted really nicely the other night, we had a good partnership and put on a few," Smith had said before the Brisbane Heat fixture.
Babar struggles for runs after controversial denied single
Babar departed for 47 in the Sydney derby. He hit the boundary rope with his bat on his way to the dugout. Since then, Babar has not been able to score well for the Sixers. After just a single against Brisbane Heat, he was stumped out for a two-ball duck against Perth Scorchers.
