Winning the toss, Sri Lanka A skipper Sahan Arachchige opted to bowl first against the Tilak Varma-led side. However, the decision turned out to be a total disaster, as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi didn't waste a single minute in making his intentions clear. The star left-handed opener smashed five sixes in the first four overs of the innings.

While continuing his inning, Vaibhav broke the record of scoring the fastest half-century in the history of List A cricket, as the young opener reached the feat in just 11 deliveries. At one point it looked like Vaibhav could also score the fastest century in List A. However, the 15-year-old opener lost his wicket off Sahan's bowling after reaching 94 runs off 29 balls.
