Virender Sehwag's son, Aaryavir Sehwag, has made a sensational start to his senior domestic cricket career. Playing for Delhi in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy 2024-25, Aaryavir smashed a cracking double century against Meghalaya on November 21, Thursday.

Batting in this under-19 multi-day tournament, Aaryavir reached the landmark off just 229 balls, remaining unbeaten on 200 at the end of day's play. His knock was studded with 36 boundaries, in which he tonked 34 fours and two sixes. Notably, the batting sensation scored runs with an impressive strike rate of 87.34. This was Aryavir's maiden First-Class double hundred and his first appearance in the Cooch Behar Trophy. Notably, he had missed out on a place in the playing XI in the season opener.

Aaryavir made his intentions clear from the word go and laid a perfect foundation to his stellar double century. The 17-year-old achieved this feat with a strike rate of 87.34. He shared a 180-run opening partnership with Arnav Bugga (114) and a century stand with wicket-keeper batsman Vansh Jetly (43). Notably, he is currently involved in an unbroken 188-run partnership for the third wicket with Dhanya Nakra (98*), who is also nearing a century. Bugga played a blistering knock of 114, hitting 19 fours and 3 sixes off 108 balls. Talking about the match, Delhi had a dominant day in their four-day fixture against Meghalaya. After bowling out their opponents for 260 runs, Delhi took control of the match with the bat. Aaryavir is now poised to potentially score a triple-century on the third day, building on his impressive double-century. Dhanya Nakra, who finished the day with 98 runs, is also on the brink of a century. Delhi ended the day with a strong score of 468/2, leading by a significant margin of 208 runs.

Before this, Aaryavir also impressed in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy match Manipur where he scored 49 runs in his team's winning cause. Aaryavir also made a strong debut in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, where he hammered 183 runs off just 136 balls for the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).

Notably, Aaryavir seems to be following his father Virender Sehwag's footsteps who had an illustrious cricketing career. Virender Sehwag was one of the most successful batsmen in the history of Indian cricket. Playing for India in all three formats, he scored 16,892 runs in 431 innings across 363 matches. He hit 38 centuries and 70 half-centuries in his glittery career.
