The Wankhede Stadium's seat which assimilated India's 2011 ODI World Cup six will be named after the proprietor of the shot MS Dhoni, as announced by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). There couldn't be a better tribute to the legend than this.

MCA president Amol Kale said that in the cricket association's Apex Council meeting on Monday (April 3) it has been decided that the seat where Dhoni's World Cup-winning landed will be named after the legendary batter. “The MCA took a decision today (Monday) to name a seat inside the stadium after MS Dhoni. The spot will be where his match-winning six landed against Sri Lanka in the final of the 2011 World Cup. We will be requesting MS Dhoni to come to the stadium for the inauguration where he will also be presented with a momento,” Kale said.

The MCA is also planning to inaugurate the 'memorial’ when MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) in their IPL match at the Wankhede Stadium on April 8.

The historical Stadium already has stands named after Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Vijay Merchant, apart from the Polly Umrigar and Vinoo Mankad Gates.

It's been 12 years since India under the captaincy of MS Dhoni defeated Sri Lanka to clinch the ODI World Cup in 2011 after a drought of 28 years. Dhoni led from the front and belted an unbeaten 91 to led India to a historic triumph. Reminiscing the memories from the epic triumph, Dhoni revealed the ‘best memory' from the final, and it wasn't the one where he hit the title-winning six to Nuwan Kulasekara.

"The best feeling was 15-20 minutes (before the winning moment)," said Dhoni as quoted by ICC.

"We did not need a lot of runs, the partnership was well-placed, there was a lot of dew. And the stadium started to sing Vande Mataram. That atmosphere I feel is very difficult to recreate - maybe in this [upcoming 2023] World Cup, there is a similar scenario, once the stadium, the fans start contributing," he added.
