India speedster Jasprit Bumrah opens up on his captaincy role for the first Test match against Australia which is scheduled to take place at The Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22. India captain Rohit Sharma will miss the first Test match as he is currently spending time with his family.

Bumrah said that he loves taking responsibility and wanted to do a tough job since his childhood. The ace speedster also revealed that he used to share inputs during Virat Kohli's Test captaincy as well.

"I don't look at it as a post, I love responsibility. I wanted to do the tough job since I was a child. So, you know, you always want to be in the thick of things. You want to be thrown against, you know, tough scenarios. So this is one of them as well. This adds a new challenge to me. I always have been, you know, wanting to add more. And even when Rohit is there or when Virat was there, that I tried to add inputs, I tried to learn from them. And then when I became a senior player as well, when new guys started coming in, I started passing on what I learnt" said Jasprit Bumrah on Star Sports.

The star speedster also said that it's an honour for him to lead India in Tests. Team India will feature in the first Test without Shubman Gill and Rohit. Nitish Kumar Reddy will also most likely to debut for India in the longest format of the game.

So I look at it this way and you know it feels good. There is no greater honor than this that as a child I always wanted to play this format and you know leading India in test cricket. Very few number of players have played test cricket for India and captains are even less. So yeah I am very privileged and very happy to be in this position.
