Temba Bavuma shared a confident statement ahead of South Africa's tour of India

South Africa's tour of India to begin from November 14

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma stated that the team will be hoping to draw inspiration from what New Zealand did when they toured India last year for a Test series. This statement comes ahead of the Proteas' multi-format tour of India that will begin in November and will include two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is. Notably, New Zealand had recorded a 0-3 series whitewash over India last year and dominated with their spinners on Indian pitches.

“Touring India is never an easy one. Looking at the way New Zealand went about their business, (it) was inspiring in a lot of ways. A lot of away teams come to India and haven't been successful,” Bavuma told media during the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards.

Bavuma further said that his team won't be surprised if India prepare spin-friendly tracks for the upcoming series, considering how every team these days tries to use the home conditions to their favour.

“In terms of the surfaces in India, (they are) spinner-friendly. We won't be in shock if we get to India, and we’re playing on spinner-friendly wickets. Generally, teams now are always using their conditions to their favour, especially with the World Test Championship cycle and the way that it's been set up, so we won't be surprised from that point of view," Bavuma stated.

Who will South Africa face before India?

Meanwhile, before embarking on the India tour, South Africa will be touring Pakistan in a two-match Test series, starting from October 12. This will be the first assignment for both the sides in the new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC). They will also be locking horns against the Men in Green in a three-match ODI and T20I series each.
