Forde's explosive innings concluded when he was dismissed for 58 runs off only 19 deliveries in the 47th over. His blistering knock was studded with two fours and an eight sixes, meaning 56 of his 58 runs came from boundaries. The 23-year-old's quick-fire performance contributed to West Indies posting a total of 352 for eight in their 50 overs, giving the visitors an excellent chance to level the three-match series.

Batters with fastest fifties in ODIs:

AB de Villiers - 16 balls - South Africa vs West Indies (2015)
Matthew Forde - 16 balls - West Indies vs Ireland (2025)
Sanath Jayasuriya - 17 balls - Sri Lanka vs Pakistan (1996)
Kusal Perera - 17 balls - Sri Lanka vs Pakistan (2015)
Martin Guptill - 17 balls - New Zealand vs Sri Lanka (2015)
Liam Livingstone - 17 balls - England vs Netherlands (2015)

West Indies experienced a shaky start while batting first as both their openers departed early, with Brandon King scoring 8 and Evin Lewis contributing 20 runs. However, Keacy Carty at number three played a crucial innings, scoring 103 runs, which helped set the momentum for the visiting team. Captain Shai Hope added 49, but the West Indies still needed a strong finish, and Matthew Forde provided just that. He smashed boundaries across the park, playing a pivotal role in helping the West Indies post a total of 352 runs within the powerplay.

Ireland's bowlers, on the other hand, had a challenging day. Their ace pacer, Joshua Little, conceded a hefty 89 runs in his 10 overs, while Liam McCarthy gave away 66 runs, though he did manage to claim three wickets. Little picked up two wickets.

Notably, the hosts had stunned the West Indies in the first ODI, handing them a significant 124-run defeat. Ireland had posted just over 300 runs in that game, but the Hope-led side struggled with the bat, resulting in a massive loss. In this second game, however, they managed to turn the tide and post a defendable total. The second innings of the match has since been delayed due to rain.

Forde, primarily a right-arm medium-pace bowler, had also played a crucial role in the first ODI, which Ireland won by 124 runs. In that match, he scored 38 runs off 48 balls and formed a 98-run seventh-wicket partnership with Roston Chase, helping to recover West Indies' innings after they were struggling at 71 for six while chasing 304. However, despite his 38-run gritty knock West Indies wend down to 124-run defeat
