The promising talent from New South Wales has been picked in Australia's 16-member U19 squad for a month-long tour of India. The visitors will lock horns against India U19 in three one-day games and two four-day fixtures, with games set to be played in Rajkot and Ahmedabad between September 13 and October 19.
In Patel's case, the selection marks an impressive achievement, as the youngster has cemented himself as one of the promising teenage batters in Australian circuit.

Patel's quick rise through Australia's age-group system has been powered by a series of strong performances with both bat and ball. Primarily, Neel is an opening batter who also offers valuable off-spin, he caught the attention of selectors while representing the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Cricket Club.
At a tender age of 16, he etched his name into the record books by becoming one of the youngest players to score over 1,000 runs in a single calendar year in Sydney Premier Cricket First Grade.
Patel has continued to build a strong reputation, with a maiden first-grade century adding another milestone to his young career. His consistent performances also secured him a spot at Cricket Australia's elite Under-19 Men's Talent Camp in Adelaide, where he was recognised among the country's top emerging prodigies. As of now, he plays for the New South Wales at the Junior level and has cemented himself as a batter who puts price on his wicket. Along with his batting, he offers a great option of off-spin bowling.
