India’s teenage batting sensation, Shafali Verma regained the top position in the ICC T20I batting rankings once again. Shafali has not played a single game since October 10, 2021. Even in her last six matches, Shafali has scored 70 runs including two ducks and as many single-digit scores.
On the other hand, the 17-year-old's teammate Deepti Sharma also moved up by one position to take third spot in the ICC T20I rankings for all-rounders. Verma’s opening partner Smriti Mandhana dropped a place to fourth. Mandhana recently won the ICC women cricketer of the year award.
Australian duo Beth Mooney and Meg Lanning are currently at second and third positions in the rankings respectively. New Zealand’s Sophie Devine is at fifth position, while her White Ferns' teammate Suzie Bates is at seventh spot. Australian star all-rounder, Alyssa Healy finds herself in the sixth position.
Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu gained six positions and is at the eighth spot. Athapaththu accumulated 221 runs at an outstanding average of 55.25 and a strike rate of 185.71 in the Commonwealth Games Qualifiers.
South Africa's Lizelle Lee and West Indies' Stefanie Taylor are ninth and 10th respectively. England’s Dannielle Wyatt moved up to 13th spot following her knock of 70 against Australia in the first T20I of the Women’s Ashes whereas Australia's Tahlia McGrath gained 29 places in the rankings to rise up to 28th.
There wasn’t much of a change in the all-rounders rankings apart from Deepti moving to third spot. Devine who ranked fifth in the batters list, retained her top position in the all-rounders list. England’s Natalie Sciver also retained her second position. Scotland’s Kathryn Bryce is fourth on the list while the West Indian duo of Haley Mathews and Taylor occupy the fifth and sixth spot respectively.
Athapaththu and Bangladesh’s Salma Khatun were ranked seventh and eighth in the all-rounders rankings. Pakistan’s Nida Dar and Thailand’s Nattaya Boochatham also jumped two places to the ninth and 10th positions respectively. Australia’s Ellyse Perry slipped four positions to go out of the top 10 rankings.
The top three in the bowlers rankings remained unchanged with England's Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn occupying the first and second positions respectively. South Africa's Shabnim Ismail is still ranked third.
