Suryakumar Yadav-led India are preparing for their T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The side qualified for the top four after registering a dominating five-wicket win against the West Indies in their last outing at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
India's delayed practice sessions
Notably, India's practice session before the semifinal was delayed by one hour and there were speculations that it was delayed due to a lunar eclipse. India's bowling coach Morne Morkel addmitted that he was told about the lunar eclipse.
"I was told about the lunar eclipse and the session was pushed backwards. But I think the most important thing to focus on was the quality the guys put in at hours that they trained, which was great to see" Morkell told media on T20 World Cup semifinal eve.
India's performance in T20 World Cup 2026
India superstar batter Abhishek Sharma has had a forgettable outing in the T20 World Cup 2026 so far with just one half-century. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan looked in good touch during the group stage but couldn’t carry that form into the Super 8s. Axar Patel, too, hasn’t been able to make a major impact yet.
As a team, however, India have performed strongly. They have won six out of seven matches, with their only defeat being a 76-run loss to South Africa in the Super 8 stage.
India vs England T20I head-to-head
India and England played 29 T20I matches against each other. Out of these 29 games, India have won 17, whereas England have come out victorious on 12 occasions.
