Australia had the last laugh in the high-voltage thrilling Ashes 2023 first Test against England at Edgbaston on Tuesday (June 20). In the nail-biting drama it was Australia who held the nerve and clinched a two-wicket win over the hosts.

With 281 to chase, Australia ended the Day 4's play reeling at 107/3. Day 5 didn't pan out as expected for the Pat Cummins-led side as wickets kept on tumbling till the scoreboard read 227/8. It was all upto the non-batters Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon, who braved the odds and launched Australia's fightback with utmost grit and resilience. The duo stitched together a partnership of 55 off 72 balls for the ninth wicket which saw Australia getting past the victory line with two wickets to spare. While Cummins remained unbeaten on 44, Lyon was unscathed with crucial 16 as Australia took a 1-0 lead in the five-match encounter.

Exhilarated by witnessing a England and Australia's perfect display of Test cricket, the renown commentator and cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle took to his Twitter account to heap praise on both the sides involved in the contest. Bhogle wrote,"The kind of match that reminds you why Test cricket stands unique amongst all sports #ENGvAUS“.

Moments later a cricket fan was seen denigrating Team India while replying to Bhogle's tweet.

“They are worthy opponents. Indians can only update Instagram stories,” the fan wrote.

Bhogle in his own savage way showed the troll his place in another tweet in which he said that it takes a quality team like India to even reach the final of the World Test Championship.

“Well, they made the final of the WTC. Have to be a good team to get there.”, Bhogle hit back.

Notably, India lost to Australia by 209 runs in the just concluded World Test Championship (WTC) final. It was another incident when Team India made it to the final but faltered at the bigger stage which denied them another ICC trophy.

Meanwhile, Australia and England will again lock horns with each other in the second Ashes Test encounter on June 28.
