After conceding 397 runs in the first innings, Manipur players may have thought that the worst is over but Dharmendrasinh Jadeja was yet to bowl. The other left-arm spinner Jadeja from Saurashtra carried on the horror show and produced record-breaking bowling figures in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 to prolong Manipur’s nightmare in the day on November 13.

At Jamia Millia Islamia University Ground, Delhi, chasing a big target of 398, no one expected Manipur to pose a challenge. Their moral win would have been to get as close to the target they can and leave with their heads held high. But Jadeja spoiled their plans starting with the wicket of opener Karnajit Yumnam in the 10th over. The openers put on a 35-run stand which was broken by left-arm spinner Jadeja.

All of a sudden Manipur batters found themselves amidst a collapse. Nidesh Sedai fell after scoring just one run. Soon enough Al Bashid Muhammed (12) joined his partner in the dressing room. The next three batters Johnson Singh, Kangabam Priyojit Singh and Rex Rajkumar got out for ducks as a disappointed Manipur skipper Langlonyamba Keishangbam watched from the other end. Pheiroijam Singh (6) tried to survive but became Jadeja's seventh victim of the day in the 22nd over.

Manipur were reduced to 57/7 and it seemed that they will break the record for largest victory by runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy's history. Skipper Keishangbam stood in the way of that with support of L Kishan Singha. The partnership was finally broken in the 37th over by left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya. The skipper was the last to fall in the 42nd over but he had taken the score to 115. He scored 55 runs from 107 deliveries including nine boundaries.

Saurashtra won the game by a huge margin of 282 runs, their personal best. Also, Jadeja had registered the best bowling figures of 7/10 for Saurashtra. In his full quota of 10 overs, he bowled six maiden overs including plenty of wicket-maidens and conceded just 10 runs. Earlier, Samarth Vyas had scored his maiden double ton. Also, the first for Saurashtra to get them to their best Vijay Hazare total.
