Indian batter Sai Sudharsan achieved a significant milestone in his county cricket career by scoring his first century for Surrey against Nottinghamshire in the English County Championship on Friday, August 30. 

 

Sai Sudharsan scores maiden county century for Surrey

 

The 22-year-old Tamil Nadu's star batter slammed 105 runs from 178 deliveries as Surrey posted a total of 525 runs in the first innings. Interestingly, Sudharsan reached his century with a memorable six. 

 

 

Captain Rory Burns led the way for Surrey with a top score of 161 runs from 266 balls, which included 11 fours and four sixes. Ryan Patel, Will Jacks, and Jordan Clark also made valuable contributions with scores of 77, 59, and 53 respectively.

Sai Sudharsan's century helps surrey post big total

 

Sai Sudharsan, a guest player with Surrey for two matches, achieved a remarkable century in the first innings. Batting at number six, the left-handed batsman scored 105 runs from 178 deliveries, including 10 fours and a six.

Thanks to Sudharsan's valuable contribution, Surrey managed to post a total of 525 runs. Captain Rory Burns led the way with a magnificent 161 runs, while Ryan Patel, Will Jacks, and Jordan Clark also made significant contributions to the team's score.

 

Sai Sudharsan's upcoming schedule

 

Following his county cricket stint with Surrey, Sai Sudharsan will return to India to participate in the Duleep Trophy 2024, which begins on September 5th. He will be representing Team C, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Sudharsan will look to grab BCCI selectors' attention for upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

Sudharsan has previously showcased his batting prowess by scoring centuries in both the Indian Premier League and the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

Sai Sudharsan's domestic cricket's track record

 

Sai Sudharsan represented the Lyca Kovai Kings franchise in the 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). In seven innings, he scored 238 runs at an impressive average of 39.66 and a strike rate of 150.63. One of Sudharsan's standout performances came in the Qualifier 1 match against Dream Tiruppur Tamizhans in Dindigul. He played a scintillating innings of 123* from 56 deliveries, which included nine fours and nine sixes. This knock propelled Lyca Kovai Kings into the final.

Unfortunately, Lyca Kovai Kings lost the final to Ravichandran Ashwin-led Dindigul Dragons. Sudharsan was dismissed for 14 runs in the final match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

At the age of 22, Sai Sudharsan is considered one of India's most promising batting talents. He has already made three appearances for the Indian ODI team, scoring 127 runs at an average of 63.50 with two half-centuries. In addition, he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in July of this year but did not have the opportunity to bat.
