They reach the semi-final of the Women's Asia Cup 2024.

Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women's cricket team defeated Esha Rohit Oza's UAE women's team by 78 runs at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla, on July 21 (Sunday). The Women in Blue posted their highest ever and first 200+ score in T20Is with the help of half-centuries from Harmanpreet Kaur and star of the day Richa Ghosh. They later managed to restrict the UAE on 123/7 and picked up a massive win to seal their spot in the semi-finals of the Women's Asia Cup 2024.

Richa Ghosh breaks big record

Richa Ghosh broke the record for highest individual score by a wicketkeeper-batter in Women's T20 Asia Cup history. The previous record was held by Nigar Sultana scored 53 runs from 34 balls against Malaysia in the last edition of the tournament. Meanwhile, Richa scored an unbeaten 64-run knock from 29 balls.

“Really happy. When I'm playing with Harry Di, she guides me about how the ball is coming on. When the opportunity comes to me, I want to just deliver what I know and what I'm practicing. First four from the cover drive was my favorite moments. Yeah, I'm feeling good (recovery from concussion)," said Richa Ghosh in the post-match presentation.

Harmanpreet Kaur praises Richa Ghosh

Indian team's captain Harmanpreet Kaur heavily praised Richa Ghosh for her heroic knock and highlighted her role in their game-changing partnership.

“Yeah I'm absolutely fine (she was off the field towards the end). Great feeling. When Jemi and I were batting, we spoke that we had to run hard rather than just going for risky shots. Our focus was on getting 7-8 runs per over. When Richa came, I just told her to keep watching the ball and see how wicket is playing. She batted beautifully. My role was just to stay on the pitch and keep rotating strike. Whenever loose balls come, convert them to the boundary. Credit to Richa. Because of her we reached the target. Special innings for me (anniversary of her knock against Australia). Great memory overall whenever we talk women's cricket in India. It always gives me positive vibes,” said Harmanpreet Kaur in the post-match presentation.
