The 20-year-old Kashvee Gautam would have just been happy to be picked by one of the five Womens Premier League (WPL) franchises but she was picked for a whopping Rs 2 crore making her the most expensive uncapped player in the league’s short history. Kashvee caused an intense bidding war between UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants which was won by the latter. She became the joint-most expensive player of the WPL Auction 2024 alongside Australia's Annabel Sutherland.
However, this is not the first time Kashvee has made news. The tall pacer who hits the surface hard to generate extra pace joined the exclusive list of bowlers who have picked up all 10 wickets in a One-Day game. In 2020, Kashvee picked up a 10-wicket haul, including a hat-trick for Chandigarh against Arunachal Pradesh in a domestic Under-19 tournament.

The 20-year-old pacer was recently picked in the India A squad for three T20 matches against England A. From two games, she picked up three wickets including 2 for 23 in a winning cause. She gave her name for the inaugural WPL auction as well but remained unsold. The scouts advised her to increase her pace and it seems that she succeeded in doing so.
In the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, she delivered impressive performances picking up 12 wickets from seven games. Her economy rate of 4.14 stood out. She was a part of India A’s (Under-23) squad for the ACC Emerging Cup 2023. In addition, she is capable of contributing with the bat down the order as well.
Recently, she was named the captain of the Chandigarh side as well.
Kashvee was also a part of the Smriti Mandhana-led Trailblazers squad in the now-defunct Women’s T20 Challenge.
'Very excited to be a part of this Women's Premier League. Thank you Gujarat Giants for picking me up. Looking forward towards the season,” the 20-year-old said in a video posted by Jio Cinema.
Apart from Kashvee, there was one more uncapped player who got a bid of over one crore. Vrinda Dinesh was picked for Rs 1.3 crore by UP Warriorz after engaging in a bidding war with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The hard-hitting batter was also a part of the ACC Emerging Cup in Hong Kong.
