Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur created cricket history on June 21, becoming the very first player in both men's and women's international cricket to reach the milestone of 200 T20 International appearances. She achieved this incredible feat during India's crucial World Cup showdown against South Africa. It marks a momentous journey for the veteran all-rounder, who first stepped onto the international stage in an ODI against Pakistan in March 2009, before making her T20I debut against England at Taunton in June of that same year.

In a passing of the torch moment, Harmanpreet also handed a debut cap to young Prema Rawat just before the game. The veteran skipper lightheartedly admitted that she felt more nervous about playing her 200th match than the debutant did, praising Rawat’s calm demeanor and wishing her enjoyment in her first outing.
With this milestone, Harmanpreet stands entirely alone at the pinnacle of short-format cricket. She comfortably leads the women's all-time appearance list ahead of legends like New Zealand's Suzie Bates (184 matches), England's Danni Wyatt-Hodge (183), and Australia's Ellyse Perry (177). Her longevity completely eclipses the men's game as well, where Ireland's Paul Stirling tops the charts with 163 matches, followed closely by former Indian captain Rohit Sharma at 159.
