The dates and venues for the upcoming edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) has been revealed. As per a Cricbuzz report, WPL 2026 is tentatively scheduled to take place from early January until February 3. Adding to the excitement, women's cricket appears set for a return to the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, a significant venue that recently hosted the memorable World Cup final, where the Indian team, under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur defeated South Africa to lift the trophy earlier this month.

According to a report from Cricbuzz, the upcoming WPL season is likely to be split into two legs, with Navi Mumbai being confirmed as one of the probable hosts and Baroda emerging as the other venue. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly finalised Navi Mumbai and Baroda for the tournament.

The first leg is likely to get underway in Navi Mumbai from January 7, while the Kotambi Stadium in Baroda is expected to host the second leg starting from January 16. Furthermore, the Kotambi Stadium is also slated to host the first ODI between the India and New Zealand men's teams on January 11.

While the BCCI is yet to formally communicate this information to the five franchises, the venues are being discussed informally. The five teams are expected to receive official notification regarding the venues for WPL 2026 during the player auction, which is scheduled for November 27 in New Delhi.

This potential January start, moving away from the February-March window of the last season, suggests a larger strategic shift; January is reportedly being considered as a potential permanent window for the WPL to avoid fixture clashes with other domestic leagues and the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP). For context, Mumbai Indians are the defending WPL champions, having won the tournament twice, while the Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured the title in 2024.
