Services' young left-arm spinner Amit Shukla became Haryana batters' nightmare in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 clash at Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium, Lahli. On Day 1, he claimed five wickets before conceding a single run. Then, he went on to register an eight-wicket haul, his career's best bowling figures to bowl out Haryana for 111.
Shukla’s late strikes stun Haryana
After Services were bowled out for 205, Shukla shocked Haryana batters late into the day's play. On the second ball of his first over, he trapped Yuvraj Singh in front of the stumps. Opener Mayank Shandilya got bowled for a single-digit score as well. While Ankit Kumar tried to hold on to one end, Shukla kept chipping away. Wicketkeeper-batter Yashvardhan Dalal got stumped whereas Dheeru Singh and Nikhil Kashyap got stumped as Shukla completed his fifer. Haryana lost five wickets for 20 runs on Day 1.
Haryana fight back but Shukla takes 8-fer
On Day 2, skipper Ankit and Parth Vats tried to steady the ship. They shared a 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Pulkit Narang broke the partnership with Ankit's wicket. He scored 32 runs from 60 balls. Then, Shukla got into the act and ended Vats' stay at the crease. He scored 27 runs from 84 balls. A few overs later, Kapil Hooda got bowled by Shukla for a 29-ball 16. Anshul Kamboj could not counter Shukla either and departed after hitting a four and a six each. Narang wrapped up the proceedings with the wicket of Anuj Thakral. Haryana were bowled out for 111 in 43.2 overs.
Shukla bowled 20 overs, including eight maidens, conceded 27 runs and claimed eight wickets. He helped his team get a 94-run lead.
Shukla betters his first-class debut performance
This is Shukla's eighth First-Class appearance. He had taken four wickets each in both innings in the previous clash against Gujarat. His previous best bowling figures were seven wickets for 65 runs which came on his first-class debut last season against Ankit Bawne-led Maharashtra.
